Maria Carme Roca
She is a historian and philologist, professionally engaged in writing since 1977. With more than sixty published books, her work is aimed at children, teenagers and adults as well.
Her latest published books are: A Bàrcino, La Reina de Gizeh, El Far (Prudenci Bertrana Award 2018), La noia del club and Selfies al cementiri.
In the course of her career she has won several literary awards like Lola Anglada, a honorable mention in the White Raven prize, the Nèstor Luján historical novel Award, the Bancaixa and the Joaquim Ruyra prize. In 2016 she won the Internet readers prize “Island of Books”.
Currently, in addition to writing, she attends schools to participate in readers forums. She gives lectures at libraries, schools and cultural associations. She is the spokesperson at the lecture club in the Joan Coromines library (El Masnou). She’s been member of the jury of several literary prizes and is member of the Association of Writers in Catalan. She is part of the CLIJCAT and collaborates and participates in various publications, as well as participating in some tours about her historical novels.
