September 1943. Five characters from postwar Spain find themselves in the most crucial moment of their lives. Jordi, the old piano tuner; his daughter, Maria, 22 years old; his nephew, Pere, who works as a film dubber; Jaume, who returns clandestinely to Barcelona as an active member of the FNC (National Front of Catalonia), and Neus, who had been his girlfriend, and who ends up marrying an older man to escape from poverty. The piano tuner has to give lessons to the son of a powerful falangist in order to survive and Pere sees how the opportunities to find work are disappearing. The return of the rebel Jaume, ready to take up arms, will change everyone's life and will plunge them into a spiral of love and violence from which they will not be able to escape.
